Renate Halton has probably more experience in dealing with all aspects of promoting international trade than anyone in the country!

Having worked for Sheffield Chamber of Commerce/South Yorkshire International Trade Centre for nearly 2 decades, and having been head of the SYITC before leaving, she was responsible for overseeing all its activities including the introduction of all support initiatives introduced by different government agencies, to assist and support companies involved in international trade.

Her experience in dealing with supporting companies, to increase their activities in overseas markets, extends from an in depth appreciation and understanding of how to assist companies utilising the different support initiatives available, through to an extensive network of contacts both nationally and internationally who can provide the information and services required.

Since taking up the position of Executive Manager of the South Yorkshire International Trade Forum (SYITF) less than 12 months ago, Renate has had a huge impact on increasing its importance to exporting companies in the region. Through organising events, focusing on key strategic aspects of exporting, not only has membership almost doubled in the last 6 months, but this has also resulted in the Forum attracting new sponsors from key support market sectors. The Forum has already established itself as the most important support agency for international trade in the region.

We needed someone with considerable experience and knowledge to conduct the research. It was a challenge to identify comparable data and Halton International came up trumps!

In the absence of real time comparable e-learning EU data Renate’s ‘out of the box’ approach and knowledge of research sources resulted in the valuable contribution to the UK E-learning market 2010 report.

Renate’s research and analytical skills allowed us to achieve our objectives.

Learning Light publishes an annual UK report on the E-learning market. In 2010 we wanted to extend this to incorporate other EU countries. We looked at Germany as a sample in the first instance but couldn’t find the detailed statistical information we required. I have worked with Renate previously and asked if she could help. By utilising her fluent German skills she found exactly what we were looking for!
