It’s a green light for AMRC to build Factory 2050

The planning department of Sheffield Council has voted and plans are now approved for Factory 2050, a state of the art, £43m development that will ensure Sheffield city region continues to lead on the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing.

The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) with Boeing signed a deal to secure land at Sheffield Business Park, setting out plans for the development of additional facilities at the Catcliffe based site. It’s aim is to build on its success at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP), just over the border in Rotherham.

To be built by the University of Sheffield, it will add to their earlier investment in the AMRC. Since 2004, four further new buildings and two extensions have been added to offer a current total of around 30,000 sq m of accommodation at the AMP, geared up to develop advanced manufacturing businesses in the region.
